I need to pull the Epa caps of my Jonhy red 2152c, I have a modded muffler coing and want to remove them. I think from what i found searching i remove the red and white plastic things with the little wings that are on the screws??

I was thinking side cutters to snip them and pull them off

They have metal inserts to hold them in place. I took mine off with a utility knife and a small screwdriver to pry open the metal parts.

I will get a pic to show them in a few min, then i will start to remove them. so does anyone know if i need to save them for reinstall to keep the adjustment from moving??? This is on a J red 2152c same as Husky 353

Jeff

I would leave them on and trim the tab's, as the screw slot in the adjust screws is tiny without the caps on.You don't need them but they make it easier

after looking at them, I think i will do as you guy say, just snip the wings off, or melt them off. Here is what they look like for those that have not seen them

Just slice off the tabs on the caps. You can use a dremel motor tool or a razor knife/ exacto knife ect. You may want to unhook and move out of the way the ignition kill wires so you don't damage them.

Thats what i did, I removed the kill switch wire and cut the "wings" off was easy:) now when i get the muffler i need to back out the H about a half turn so i am told. I do need to back out the H not screw it in right???
