Yes, very good investment. Most customers love it. Some cannot see it. I am to the point where I get a little upset when I do not have it with me.

I got the green one and I like it when I have it. Its normally not in the vehicle I am in when I am giving that bid. Do i leave it in a work truck (which one?) or the bid jeep? I like it, but its rare that I have it with me.

We use the green ones to point of the limbs that we will be pruning back from the utility lines, don't use it all the time but it has come in handy. Some of the older folks can't see it to well.

I keep it in the front pouch or the tool bag I carry on consultations, along with root crown excavation tools, hand lens, binocs, portable pH meter, soil probe etc.

It used to be awkward pointing to branches; I'd have to get close to clients so their eye could follow my arm to see which limb or fork I was talking about. Of course getting close to some is better than getting close to others...

I had a green laser pointer and it worked OK. Still was a little hard to see in very bright light. It (edited, changed I to It) stopped working and I doubt I will be spending the money to buy a new one. the red lasers during the day are virtually useless. Right now on bids I am using the Retreever from Sherrill to point out stuff. Customers seem to be able to know which part of the tree I am talking about with a 10 ft. pointer.

Retreever sounds like a good tool for pointing.

YOu retiring Wesley? You looked too young to quit, unless you got the $ to fall back on.

Guy, it was a typo, which I edited. I meant to type "It" not "I".

I plan to retire in 5 years. Have to at least make some use of the new toys I bought first. My son-in-law gets out of the Air Force in January and will take over the business after 5 years of training. He needs a minimum of 4 years to get a contractor's lic. in Hawaii.

Is there a warranty on those things? I don't want mine going bad in 366 days and being stuck with it.

I use mine all the time.
Some times it's easier for the customer if you go up from the base of the tree with the dot.
I have had it for about a year and is one of the coolest thing I ever owned. Snow storms, fog, and plain old any weather the laser is very, very cool. This is only if you live in a relativly isolated area, don't point it up either or you might be talking to home land security.

I dropped 3 bills on mine, makes my tree buddies jelous with their sherril ones. But the 99$ cataloug one is still phenominal and serves the same purpose.

Be careful where you point those things. A local man was arrested for shining a laser pointer at a passing aircraft. He could have got 20 years for violating the Patriot Act.

Fred

Used to really piss off aircraft overflying our camp in Kabul as well, not that I ever have used one. Quite an impressive site to see a C130 or chopper shoot off a whole volley of flares, especially at night.
