hey guys.great forum.check this out.i think the 410 was the last pro grade homelite?
anyway.i bought this saw second hand along with a bunch of others.
well the others worked,so i didn't really (still don't) have a need to even look into this one.back a few years ago,i poured gas in the tank to see if the saw run.noticing the looks of the thing i was really hoping it would.i saw right off this saw had been dropped off a truck or something because i quickly saw the gas run right out of it.well anyway, the other saws where husky and stihl,so i never bothered to fix it.
well the other day i got digging around for parts and stuff and remembered this gem.so i patched up the tank.it holds gas fine now.i pour gas down the carb and fires right up.im sure the carb needs a kit due to sitting for all the years of course.
i thought i had a chain.didn't see that around.but i see the bar.
anyway.as far as i can tell.i don't think this saw has even made one cut.i looked it over really close and i cannot find one single piece of sawdust anywhere inside.i think a few of the scratches are likely from the time iv had it-i had it sitting around in a box with other saws/parts.and just shuffled this one around when looking for parts lol.
anyway.check this out.
not quite sure what i want to do with this one.its a pretty heavy saw.
should i toss a carb kit in it and just run it? or toss a carb kit on it and sell it? if its not worth anything(not worth selling).i'l probably just run her.
but wouldn't mind placing it on that famous action site if you guys think i should.
is there a place to list saw's for sale on this site? (though it may not get the coverage im after anyway)
well perhaps someone here has run one-or still does.and would love to have a new one again i dunno.
either way,im going to make sure it runs first.(can't see why it wont tho).

here's some pics.
not everyday you see an old discontinued saw that has been honestly never run before.
well i know iv never run it.and really can't find any evidence it has even made one cut before someone in the past broke the gas tank.

rust, scratches, and some grease marks from years of it being tossed in a box dissembled no less haha.well i never thought about the possibly of selling it or id of set it aside and it would look slightly better today.i always figured id just get it together when i needed it.but that time simply never came.the husky and stihls are still going strong.
im not really posting this in hopes of selling it to anyone.just mostly to show it to everyone and get some opinions as to what would be the best desision to do with this.these older saws are much heavier than the ones today.would make someone a good firewood saw is what im thinking if i can get anything for it.
opinions welcome.

few more pics of the old (still new) girl lol.

hey supercabs, that was one of the stihls in the lot of saws i got with this one.
the 038 super! (like in your lineup/sig) now that's a monster! haha.she sure don't look bad still either and runs very hard.-that saw is one of the bigger reasons for me never getting this homelite out before.

I have been polishing the intake and exhaust this week going to be a just for fun saw. I'm thinking about having a machine shop take a little off the bottom of the cylinder. I hadn't got around to asking the experts here how much to take off, but I will later.

They started making it in 89 it doesn't say when they stopped. 68cc

the actual first year of the 410 was late '84. they stopped making them in early '87. can't remember who was making them for homelite. good saw, heavy, but a good saw.
dad bought the first one sold at hudsons supply back in jan.'85:dizzy:

Very cool! What year is that saw roughly?

the front top cover reads 1992.
i think i got a hold of these sometime around 2000-2001
so its not like a "classic" or "collectible" or anything i wouldn't think.
i or someone could actually just run her in the ground lol.
the main reason is what im thinking is i can take the $ and help pay for the new husky 372 im after.this is what im thinking.i just dug this one out today.
haven't asked.but im pretty sure they wouldn't give me much as a trade in for this one.could be wrong? i'l find out soon though.

Pretty sure it is a Solo...

wow! ok.it appears i don't even know what this saw is.
it reads homelite 410 on the top cover and side cover.
i can read serial numbers and everything very easy.(due to the thing being brand new looking)
the pics appear to make this saw look orange in color some.
the saw it bright red.(looks like same color red as say a jonsered)

p.s. yes it is very heavy.
as new looking as it is.(i really don't think it ever saw one single cut)
why would they replace parts/covers?

here's another pic.

Arborist, run that thing, I think you will be surprised.

I just aquired one a few weeks ago and put a new carb boot, carb kit and all new lines on it.

Acutally I was not expecting much and I really haven't used it yet, but just testing it impressed be alot for what it is. It runs strong.

Very nice saw arborist! I believe that's the first SL I've ever seen. Most seem to just have the hand guard. If it were me, I'd sure be holding on to it. If you decide to sell it, you should expect a nice price since you don't run across one like this every day.

Hello everyone; years ago I had one of these saws. I got it in 1985, as I recall, it was a refurbished dealer demonstrator saw, got it cheap. It was the first moderately large chainsaw I ever had owned. I cut my firewood with it for years until it was stolen. Brian was not happy. I subsequently got a Stihl 044 in 1992, which I still have and it still runs great. My 410 would not cut with the 044, and it was heavy, but I really don't remember how heavy. Yes I miss it, and seeing all of these pictures brings back memories With a heavy heart, thanks, Brian.

410 a great saw

I am runing one now...a great saw...I have been told that it was made by a German company for Homelite...runs more like a euro saw. I have problems with the fuel cap now...maybe interested in yours as a back up
