Are you calling the cover with 4 screws the bottom? Still confused
On an 051- Tillotson carb- the impulse nipple is middle of the cover of the carb which is rear most when the carb is in position.
The fuel nipple is on the lefthand side of the carb as viewed from the operating position.

Got a new piston in, saw back together, but only runs on prime at the moment,I did rebuild the carb. Do have the lines correct. One on top is the impulse line, correct? ( by top I mean the cover with 4 screws) Fun line is on the side, yes?View attachment 1227629

Piston that needs replaced- been replaced but saw will only run on prime down the carb throat- sounds like an air leak.
You are not trying to run it with the clutch removed are you?

clutch is on. Part of the problem may be is that the throttle rod wire just broke! I just ordered a replacement. So, on hold for a bit. Thanks

But if the cylinder is not supplying enough vacuum to work the pump side of the carb via impulse- Id guess you have a large air leak. There are 4 gaskets on the intake stack alone that can deteriorate and leak ( although the uppermost in the stack does not really effect running) as well as the more obvious main oil seals that are just a wee bit different on these- least on the PTO side.
