Todays project saw 2 for 1 deal

Well it took just under 2 1/2 hours to take these 2 saws and make one running good one. It was the last project saw i had left of 4 for this winter.
Got 3 5000's in the mail coming my way though, so it want be long to start on some more soon, or this could be along winter if we get snow like Denver did. it is alive and 2 free bad saws made one runner. Had to do a heart transplant. Also one had a zama carb and one a walbro carb, had to change the throttle linkages around to run the walbro on the red saw. But I like walbros.
Scottr, The only trouble is I haven't got the bar oil primer going yet. Clues?

Wife was gone out and i no longer have my barn to work in due to losing it in a storm.

What inspired me to take up this project today, was i was talking to a friend and he was telling me how this young guy hard on his luck and has a big house with 4 kids and wants to try to heat with wood. It was going to send him out to buy a cheapie saw to use for a first timer cutting wood.
I thought to myself that if i could get a saw out of the 2 bad ones i would just give it to him to use. Figure it is better to fry a used saw then get a brand new one and burn it up. i figure he will toast it with straight gas first thing after the mix i have in it runs out.
Just hope someone shows and tells him the how to's, or if i get to meet him i will try to help as i to am a harry homeowner.
First i need to get that bar oiler working.

I could use some of the left over parts if you still have them. THe airfilter and carb assy and the top cover and a primer bulb if it has one. THey both look like the homolite I have. I'm thinking parts should interchange. Ya think they will?

I had to tell the gf. I showed her the pic of your kitchen table. You'll never guess what she said, "looks like my mess". So looks like she wouldn't mind if I made a mess like that, right? :laugh:

Dont think it would work on a homey saw, they are poulan/craftman saws.

Alot warmer working on the table, then in the old barn last year. :hmm3grin2orange:

Oil Pump

Kevin , is that a 36cc Poulan/Craftsman hybrid saw like the Poulan 2250 ?

The red one was a 42cc and the green donor heart was 36cc or 38cc. Runs like the 220 did. Also put the older muffler and gutted it out.
The other one had that silver shiny muffler and carb caps set to epa crap. betting thats what toasted it. Guy that gave it to me said he would cut for hours non-stop with it. Wish I would have knew, could have opened it up and richened it up for him , before toasting it.
Using the oil primer from the 42cc. wonder if the spring on the crank would be different for the primer, they looked the same by eyeing it.

Oil Pump Drive

Kevin , I looked up the 2250 IPL and it is the same for the 2450 and the 2550 (36cc , 40cc , and 42cc) types 1-5 . If you give me the Craftsman model number I'll look it up to be sure . Did you check the oil tank filter ?

Cool deal, You might offer to show him how to mix a couple of gallons of fuel and tell him to call you when he needs more LOL:biggrinbounce2: and give him some pointers on the do's and dont's like no cutting dirt ,,,, and reading the chips to tell if the chain is getting dull,,,,:greenchainsaw: :greenchainsaw: Helping him get started correctly
it might make the difference of him being like 95% the rest of the chainsaw users who are clue :blob2:

Will do tomorrow Scott. Done for tonight, Thanks for the footwork. The cranks and etc all looked the same with the primer pump spring and oiler.
Nope didnt check the hose oiler or filter. Will do later too.

Kevin was the green one a wild thing? A guy at work needs the crank out of one for a r/c car project. I got him a camo colored one, but the crank was broke and he doesn't want to spend much on it....Everything else was good, but he crank...So if you have an extra bottom end assy, what would you want for it... The wild shark should be the same from what he said.....

If you have a carb and air cleaner assy, primer bulb, and top cover on the cheap I'll buy them and give it a try. I won't return them for money back or leave bad feedback. I know they might not fit.

Steve I will give you the lower assembly without the fried piston and cylinder.
If you have a extra used work chain or 2 in 3/8, 050, 58, 59, 60, drive links, I could use for some 59 bars i ended up with would be nice to boot.
The left over crank is the 42cc crank.

PM me the complete list ok,if you decide you want them, I will get them out after new years. This week is deer hunting again all week and will be quit busy after Christmas.
I would say I am 99.9% postive these parts WILL NOT WORK ON YOUR SAW. But that is your decision.
