My 365BB project video

I recently finished my 365BB build with the help of many of you. Thank you once again.

The saw really rips. I used it all day yesterday dropping and bucking up a cluster of 6 big maples. I was tearing thru that tree like butter. Today I shot a video going thru what I believe is some ash, hard stuff compared to the soft maple. It's my first video, so bear with me.

Go to your Youtube page.
To the right of your vid it says "embed"
Click on that and it should go blue for a second.
Click it again so it stay's blue.
Hold down the "ctrl" while you press "C".
Go to the page you want it posted (in reply of course), hold down the "ctrl" key and press "Y"
Job done.

+1. It sounds good, but you need a lot more load on that engine to let it perform like it can.

Thanks, I'll have to check the rakers. It's one of Bailey's Woodland Pro RC30 full comp chains. I used it yesterday, then touched it up with a file before shooting the video. I never checked the rakers, since it was a new chain. My raker gauge is .025" I believe, it that a good number?

Hmmmm...... should be good being a new chain.
Just doesn't sound like your chain can keep up with your saw.

Could the clutch be slipping? I never took the clutch apart, and it is a used saw. I will pull the clutch apart tomorrow and inspect. I just ran two different raker gauges on it, both .025 and the file doesn't even touch the raker.

I wouldn't think so.
If you can afford another chain, I'd experiment with the raker height.
I have a chain i use in hardwood with the rakers at .030.

I pulled the clutch drum off out of curiousity and it looks good inside. The manual says min thickness is 3mm, which I have. I'll try picking up a .030 raker gauge. I have half a dozen chains for the bar, so I can experiment with the rakers. It cut like mad in the soft maple. It seems like I would want deeper rakers(.030) for soft wood and more shallow(.025) for hard wood. Or does that get thrown out the window once you mod a saw?

Your thinking right.
Maybe that wood is very hard.
Just sounds like the chain isn't getting enough bite.
For interests sake, do a chain at 030 and see how it cuts in that same wood.

I've found that .030" will ruin a chain in hardwood and just jump and grab like crazy in the cut. If you're chains sharp and the rakers are at .025", then you just need to put a little downward pressure on the bar.

It's definately some very hard wood. I don't know for sure what it is, but it's tough stuff. It served as my splitting stump for several years. It is getting pretty thin now, you can see I had to strap the back of it down to hold it in place. I won't get many more cuts out of that piece of wood. I may have to wait until I find some more hardwood. Everything I had is now split into firewood. All I have to play with is a small piece of apple and lot of soft maple.

I have a chain set at .030 i use in some of our hardwood with success.
Best to experiment.
You'll find the right combo.
