All of these things were shoots out of a euc stump. I did a bunch guying the them three times up. The rest I tied their tops down to the trunk towards the gap they could fall, then cut them high with the pole pruner. They snapped snap down the gap barely stretching from the trunk.

I thought it was tricky. I found out I'm an ace monkey climbing around in there a little bit without spikes, rope, or ladder.:monkey: The things were growing out of a stump, so there was no going higher in 'em than what wouldn't hurt if they teetered over. Stump was probably all rotted out. Never know.

:dizzy:

Still goin for the Darwin award FTA? I wonder why everybody doesn't use that "snap 'em off high with the pole pruner" trick.

What's all that stuff that landed on the deck/patio?

No deck there. That's the yard behind the fence/guard rail that lines the retaining wall. I was on the patio deck that over hangs to take the photo.

I've tried to steer clear of posting in this, but I keep looking at the pics and pondering this.

In the first pic there is a fence in the corner, in the second pic, no fence n the corner? Is that just me?
If the fence was taken down. why not just rope and flop them, why climb and waste the time?

Neat. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford a tiled, walled, "yard". What do you guys out there call the lowest level of terra firma where the dirt and grass is?

I'll ask again, but this time with FTA terminology. What's all that stuff that landed in the "yard"?

Well, I did pretty good on that one. It definitely was a weird sucker to come down. BTW, the pic was taken from to places.

This thread just reminded me why it pays to work for myself. For as hard as I work I'd never get anywhere working under or in competition with the likes of the rebelry. Can't say I miss "the land" of the guy that works the hardest and has the best attitude about his work is only guy working himself backwards.

God Bless

Can anyone decode this gibberish? Am I supposed to be "the likes of the rebelry"?

For anyone who missed it, here's a glimpse into FTA's mad tree skills a couple months ago.

Ok, I did somehow miss that one. Think that was when I had managed to extract myself from AS for an extended period....

The post that I'm sure he's happy about is #60 ... Guess he lived to see the new year after all.

The right and left handed figure 8's had to be just about the best part.

I think I'm going to start a new secret identity on this forum. It could be fun to pick up the slack when FTA disappears for awhile. I'm sure I could find random pics and stuff to get the "action" going again....

Ignorance is bliss, and he lives one blissful existance.

that's what I tell people when they ask me why I am so pissed off and negative all the time... I say cause I ain't stupit.

I don't quite understand how a pole pruner ( or which type) was used unless... NO Not this

But most of how the job was described I don't understand. Like it was mentioned the tree was actually stump shoots from when the original tree was cut down? And that they were so weakly attached to the stump that you couldn't climb the tree and the cuts were made from the ground?

Anyway, it looks allright from here. Yo, FTA, why is these people bustin on you dude?

Are these pics supposed to be of the same tree? I am not sure of that... but you all know what I eat for breakfast.

ISA is just a money grabbing organization. Keep up the good work. No-one should be allowed to tell you what to do. Other members on here are probably just jealous you can do things so cheaply. Behind every bit of sarcasm, you can detect the jealousy. Hope business goes well for you in the future. Every day you will meet new challenges to overcome. Anybody who says you can’t do something usually means they can’t do that thing. Don’t let anybody stop you from achieving your aims.

Yes, that's exactly what I was wondering. Also, this fellow may not be a native English speaker, so the meaning of what he's trying to say may get lost in the translation. Perhaps he did this job in a way that makes sense, after all. Trouble is, I've read over his posts and can't quite get the meaning of what he's actually trying to say.

The above is a joke, right? :ices_rofl:

High shoots and a small landing zone require this method I call the Snap Attack.

In step one you see a depiction of a ladder, pole pruner, the green shoot, and the rope attacked to the green shoot. The rope is attached to the top part of the shoot and pulled very tout and tied straight below to the bottom of the tree on the side of the little LZ.

Cut enough of the shoot as shown by a little red line to where the top will not come completely off, but if you the give the rope a good pull, it will tear right out of there.

That top will go nowhere too far to the left nor right or anywhere except at the bottom of the tree.

The snack attack is means of dropping the things when there is nothing you can climb on or anything you can safely rig the tops too.

If you don't want the cut to peal, make a bottom cut.

Don't try this unless you've got the gift. You might get hurt.
