I just got my CB 5036 and have seen some very nice wood sheds both next to and wrapped around OWBs. I'm looking for something to store wood next to my OWB that will hold 1.5 - 2 cords. Thank You

I think your pole may be a bit crooked... but looks nice a suggestion .. you might want to put a cage around that one light bulb just in case an errant piece of firewood makes contact with bulb ... breaks said bulb .. turn on lights and spark.. and dry wood.. and a winters worth of wood goes up in smoke .. just a thought

Getting ready for the installation - you can see the pad I laid (mixing by hand) -for the OWB - this is going to be surrounded by 6 feet of gravel. It is 12' x 6' x 5" with rebar - looks small in the photo - sorry it's dark - but I only have a couple of hours each night once I get in from work (80 minute drive)
this shed will be 12' x 8' 6' and there will be 2 more to the left giving me an area of 36' x 8' x 6' - which by my reckoning and some rounding means I should get about 10 cords in there !
in the summer it will be open for drying and then in the winter - I'm either going to put boards or tarps up - we'll see how the budget goes
I'm going to build a shelter at the front of the OWB - with a covered walkway to the "store" - in an attempt to stay dry and less cold whilst stoking etc.

Yes I need to cut that down. Good point with the light I do need to get a cage around it.

Thank you for your ideas. I'll post some pictures soon of my set-up and I know you folks will have some great suggestions for me to implement. Just got a grapple load tonight (7-8 cords--Mother of God I've got some work to do) Thanks again!

ya know you may be able to straighten the pole.. just dig down along the one side with a post hole digger.. ( try during the wet time of the year) and then try to push the pole back up right and then pack the dirt around it and try to bbrace it for a few months till the dirt settles.. .. I am sure you don't want to loose the security light that is there.. just a thought
I think worrying about that is kind of minor when you consider he's probably opening the fire door in pretty close proximity to that woodpile anyway. :hmm3grin2orange:
My wood and OWB are under the same roof but I put a wall up separating them for that reason. Makes a nice place to hang the cleanout tools and a couple 40# fire extinguishers too.

been busy for the last 3 weeks - finished the other two sections - total of 36' X 8' X 7 ' - holds about 10 cords.
Been very busy collecting wood - a friend who is the arborist has a "pile" he gave me access too - has 1 year old logs on it - so it was just a matter of pulling them out (hitched chain to back of excursion) and chopping them into 24-30" logs.
should have enough for this winter - seasoned even- not too shabby for a late starter !!
I think it can be said I definitely have the bug !!!!
