I recently picked up a couple of Sthil 011av at a yard sale or should I say pieces of two 011av's. I managed to get one complete saw out of the deal and it starts first pull and idles great but when I give it full throttle it just stalls out. If I gradually give it a little throttle it revs up ok but if I try to cut with it it just stalls out. Any ideas to make it work right?

Have you reset the carb to factory settings?

Someone will surely follow on with details, but if not then I will look up for you.

For what it costs, I always put a new carb kit in any stuff I buy. At least you know where you are starting from.

Is it all orange (old model) or orange and white (newer)? some parts are hard to find for the older one - notably the reed valve under the carb.

While you are working on it, check the fuel vent pipe. This runs from the carb to behind the sprocket. It has a grub screw inside and over time the tube closes round it and blocks it off. Also worth replacing the sponge filter on the end of it - only a few cents.

Hope you get it running OK.

Dave.

Off the top of my head it sounds like your in-tank fuel line may be collapsing on ya, they do deteriorate and when you hit the trottle don't stand the vacume and start to pinch, it would explain why it idles fine and you can bring the revs up gently. Would be the first thing I'd check as I've pulled a few hairs out with exactly that, they may 'look fine', but aren't. Just a guess and my unworthy 0.02$ fer the afternoon.

OK I'm going to purchase a new gas line and carb kit. The carb is a Walbro this I know. My next question would be how do I know which Walbro carb it is? Mine is the white 011AV. Went to the Walbro site and I hope I ordered the right kits. I ordered both the repair kit and the gasket kit. Will pick up the gas line on Thur.

Fuel Line.. I have the white 011av. Exact same problem. WOuld run abit and then stall out, or would idle and then give it some throttle and then die. The fuel line had a hairline crack in it. Didnt repair it myself.. after getting ticked off.. replaced the fuel filter and air filter.. going through the carb.. Took it to a small job and failed on me. I took it to a small engine repair person. $14 and 3 days later and found out what the issue was
