Ok, whats wrong with my saw, besides stihl jokes

020T oops MS200T 6 months old ran 1 month. by me personally plug wire boot split at plug, spring inside boot came off and grounded out on jug. I replaced Mag, wire and boot. Prob is saw doesn't idle, barely starts and no power.

New fuel line, new filter (air and fuel) impulse line new. saw acts like its not getting enough fuel, adjustments on carb and replacement of carb with known good dual jet brings no relief.
saw starts and runs better without bar and chain.
sprocket in good shape as is the clutch. Chain tensioned properly, good roller tip bar. Carb is clean, swap it over to older 020T and it runs great on it.

Mag is set fine, actually a little closer than older 020T, great spark, much better than the older 020T( which runs great by the way)
Removed muffler screen, unbelievably clean, left out for the hell of it, no change.
91 octane fuel with stihl 2 cycle mixed slightly richer than 50:1 but not as rich as 40:1, I err on the side of caution on my mixes.

What am I missing? haven't actually put compression guage on it, but its got better compression than older 020T, turns over smoothly without plug, pulled muffler, and carb boot, I can see no problems on the piston itself. replaced all parts, put on a new carb boot cause I had a hard time getting old one off, figured I probably split it. No relief.

Figured I'd pick your brains before it becomes a $500 boat anchor. I'd rather have the saw, I can get a better anchor for a lot less than $500.

Any ideas besides pull the sideplate off and install it on another saw?

Sounds like you looked at most everything already.  Something that comes to mind is the physical timing.  Is the flywheel properly indexed on the crank?

like I stated, its 6 months old, with about 1 month of running on it.
I like to work on my own stuff same as everyone else, and I have more new parts for the 20Ts than my local dealer, so swapping out parts is no problem, and no cost.
FYI it actually starts on less than 3 pulls with the new fuel line and filter, although I agree that the old one should be fine based on run time. dealer has an attitude about the saw, doesn't want to even see it, we have had a falling out over it, and he has lost a lot of money (mine) by me not dealing with him anymore, next closest dealer is 30 miles in a direction I dont normally travel, and I don't know him.

Flywheel has never been off, or changed. I assume its fine the way it was from the factory

Probably needs the newer carb, with accelator pump. they had a service bulliten on it. ive replaced 3 or 4 of them now.
warranty all them.

I'll disagree with the staement that fuel filters and fuel lines will last years, with the exception of little or no use on the saw. Filters get plugged often moreso for those who find it a waste of time to clean the fuel tank on the saw once a month or so. And a fuel line that is "years old" should be replaced especially if the tank was fulkl for years.

Make sure you got the right carburater boot. I had to change mine because it tore. Went to hardware store where they sell and service stihl got a boot for 020t or so they said didn't run good took it to other stihl dealer about twenty miles away said it was wrong boot got different one ran great ever since. 019t and 020t boots are different.

Cantankerus saw

Sounds like it's not getting fuel, for some reason. You have covered about everything, but the tank vent[I assume it has one] I would also agree that it should be a dealer issue.Companys like Caterpillar,John Deere, and Stihl have built thier reputation on service, and the type you have been getting is not up to standards.

Why would your dealer have a problem with taking it back?? I would certainly take it back and fix it if you were my customer.

Anyway......back to the matter at hand. With everything you said you ahve changed and checked.........my next step (accually it would have been checked almost first.) is it probably has an air leak. A pressure test should be done on the saw to find it or rule it out.....the dealer 30 miles away....if you like him and hes any good.......should have no problem doing that.

Let us know how you make out.

Forcast is calling for rain here on tuesday, I will take it to the dealer then, will keep you up to date on what it turns out to be.

No possibility of new boot being for 019. I wouldn't own one. All my parts inventory is 020/ms200T
