Does anyone know the PN for the outer dawg for these saws? The inner dawg is the same on all three, so I'm guessing the outer would be the same as well. Now this is assuming there is a matching outer. If not, is there a matching set that will work from another model?

None of the IPL's I have seen show one. Most likely would have to be custom make, like the big Stihl spikes I made for the 7900

Don't know the part numbers but Bryce (ebay)had some small dual dogs listed for the 026:D

The MS261 really would benefit from a matching set of Dual Bucking Spikes.

My guys have struck out trying to figure out a set. The outer chaincase's pre-drilled holes will need to be drilled through to the outside.

Any help would be appreciated!:D

Thanks for the tip. Those look to be a nice aftermarket set of dogs. They also fit the 361. I'll have to take a look at the factory 361 dual spike set and see if they look too big or not. Anyone have that kit PN for the 361 that includes both dawgs as well as the roller chain catcher?

I bought a large set ,the oversize ones to fit the 660 and the quality is great ,oh yeah apart from the different mounting holes ,those over size dogs are the same size as the large 880 ones:bowdown::bowdown:

I finally finished up my 026 project. Actually it is a MS260 that I bought with a bad piston. After a lot of reading on this site, I got it all together and running, but haven't cut with it yet.

I saw a few posts about putting larger spikes/dawgs on an 026, but not any real definite answers. I was able to install some 044/066 spikes on the saw and get them to work.

What I did to the saw...

Installed a NWCS dual port muffler
Widened the exhaust port and 1mm higher and polished
1mm lower on the intake and polished
Sanded and repainted the clutch cover with Stihl paint
Added the 044/066 spikes
Swapped in a wt426 carb
Put in a new piston/rings/wrist pin bearing
Added a Stihl 20" bar and .325 chain

As far as the spikes go, the inner spike was a simple swap. The spike that mounts on the cover side was a different story. I had to drill two holes next to the existing holes on the spike to get the inner and outer spikes to match up. Also I will have to cut a small notch in the back of the cover side spike to allow access to the forward bar nut.

The part numbers stamped on the spikes are 1122/06 inner and 1122/01 for the cover

This is way bigger than what I'm looking for.

i must ask one question........why?

it is not like the saw needs two, does nothing for the saw.

You could use the small spikes like is on my 044, the only drawback is no holes for a roller catcher. I have been thinking of drilling mine to accept it.

One of the things I like about the MS261 is the captivated bar nuts. Didn't think they would be a big deal, but after using the saw awhile I like them.

Checked the 361 chain roller kit/spikes and the holes line up perfectly to the 261, just need to finish drilling the holes in the cover.

The 261 bar cover will fit on the 361 just fine. Ordering a captivated bar nut cover on Monday for the 361, if they are available yet. Thanks for the thread Brad.
