026 Serial Number

Hey all,

Just picked up an 026 and the serial number is 420845956.
The serial number lookup tool (https://workshoppist.com/decoding-stihl-chainsaw-serial-and-part-numbers/) doesn't give a manufacture year and says the country of origin is either Austria or China.
Can anyone tell me anything else from this serial number? Were 026's made in China or Austria?

Also, I have an 038 Mag that has 334630336, that gives me no year and Brazil. Any other way to get a year for these saws?

Is it possible that you have transposed the first two numbers? You have 42. Could it be 24? Reversing the first two gives built in 97 +/-1 year and built in Virginia Beach, VA.
Also:
Elsewhere there is this for the first number.

2=United States
3=Brazil
5=United States
8=China
Note: No 4 listed.

Is it possible that it was hand stamped by a shop that replaced the case half and just messed up the order? I know that my local shop will restamp a case if they replace it.

What I have listed for stihl saved. @West Aussie

1 Germany

2 5 US

3 Brazil

4 Austria

8 China

If the first digit in the serial number is a 1 then it was manufactured in Germany
If it’s a 2 or a 5 it was manufactured in the United States
A 3 means it’s manufactured in Brazil
Serial starting with 8 is Chinese made
Starting with 4 means made in Austria
