028 Chain Sprocket

I have a 028 with a Sprocket (just the gear type) and want to convert it to a Rim type sprocket. Is this possible? Does Stihl offer some conversion kit?

If the sprocket you have is one piece, gear and drum, then all you need is a rim sprocket kit and a snap ring to hold the deflector to the drum. If it is the old 2 piece sprocket, then you must buy a conversion kit which includes a new plastic cover.

Is it worth changing to the rim sprocket?

I don't know about the efficiency of a spur sprocket but I do know they bugger up drive links much worse when you throw your chain than a rim does.

Last I knew it was still available. Need to check price list again to make sure. I think I still have one in stock. The rim runs smoother and is alot easier to replace.
