Something I just experienced in the shop-
MSA 140CB. Sprocket just about worn through.
Customer says it will not drive chain. Take off bar and chain, the sprocket, worm gear and end of motor armature (almost said crank) fall off saw.
All the pressure of the bad sprocket put so much pressure on the armature it broke the end off. Easy repair, but more than the saw is worth.
I can see this being an issue as most of these are in the hands of homeowners who never look at a sprocket.
I only repaired it for myself-the experience and to have one at home.
Something to watch out for in the shop.
PS there is an updated part number for the motor.
