On to the next project, an 028. Its a super (46mm) piston, my problem is the lining ( nickisil ) around the intake and exhaust is wore off not sure if this is salvageable or not. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

Looks like aluminum build-up from the piston to me too.
I just did an 041FB last month that had a cylinder that looked worse then that one.
Some muriatic acid and a Q-tip,then some scothbrite and 30 mins. later I had a good looking cylinder
All thanks to a search on some how to's on this site.

Thanks gang. I did hone it and some cleaned up, but, still abit around the intake and exhaust ports, the rest cleaned up nicely. I used muriatic acid and Qtips, some of it just wouldn't come off and i didn't want to hone anymore to prevent further damage.
