When you mosey down to the dealer to buy the sprocket, they will give you the right size. Or you could look at the old one and get the size from there. I imagine the new one should be the same size as the one on your saw now.
Never messed with the 029 much. The weight and size of the 036 with less power than the 026. Works for homeowners, though.

I have been wondering the same thing about my 029 Super that my girlfriend uses for fire wood, I'm thinking about converting it to 3/8 bar/chain instead of the original .325".
Do you guys have any part #'s for a the a 3/8 sprocket and bar??Well I guess I could go to Oregons site maybe I can find out there,do I need any other parts besides a sprocket, bar, and chain to make this conversion??It's got the original spur sprocket on it now I would like to go to rim.

Unlike every other 029 I've ever seen, Rob's 029 must have gobs of power and he needs a larger, heavier chain to maximize his ability to harness all that extra power.

Hey come on now guys all this thing does is cut firewood no bigger than 15" DBH,I know it's not a power house but it will pull a 3/8 chain I'm just trying to keep all my chains the same size I'm sick of having to search around for a different size file every time I need to sharpen it.What do I know maybe nothing.

Don't know which is considered standard, but the 029 has the smaller of the two 7-spline hubs.
Good luck,
George

3/8 won't be a Disaster

I have both 325. and 3/8 setups for the 026 and there is not a lot of difference in cutting. The 325 a bit smoother. Both 16 inch bars. The 3/8 easier to file. Im sure you aren't about to put a 32 incher on though. It will simplify chains and files.

Frank thats exactly what I'm trying to do the biggest bar I use on it is 20" max mostly 18",I just want to simplify sharpening 1 file not 1 file and then go looking for another that I usually can't find anyway..
