038 Magnum 038 magnum II

I just got a 038 magnum 2 for 75 bucks. Can anyone tell me the differnce between the 038 magnum and the 038 magnum II. I do know one thing though, this thing growls I tried to get one 6 months ago and missed it but I got lucky with this one, thanks for the help.

Good find:clap : It should growl, a magnum is 72cc compared to the 038 61cc. Sorry, i dont know the difference between the I and II designation. Someone smarter than me will be by shortly.

I pickup up a 038super last year for $20, it needed a little work though.

That's how I found it. I think all the grime helped preserve it.

What 038 model was made in Brazil? My friend is thinking about selling me it but I'm not a big fan of it. It has so much compression you'll break the starter rope in 20 pulls. I might still buy it yet.

i think i read a while back that the brazil mag was the, later, more desireable one.
only answer i can get as to the difference in the magI and magII is muffler port count.

038 Mag2 is the predecessor of the 044. Awesome fallin' saw.

I got one a while back...a bit more than 75 bucks...they are a POS saw, you won't like it...so I can dispose of yours for you if you want, I'll pay for the shipping.:hmm3grin2orange:

I have done some research on this subject and I haven't been able to find any difference in the magnum and the mag II. Apparently there were a few Mag II's that came out with a triple port muffler, but I have yet to see one(a stock one). Most have a dual port muffler.

My guess is the first is the Magnum - made in Germany. The second is the Magnum II - made in Brazil.

Now I have a question - I've just converted an AVS to Magnum (another thread). But I think it now has the right to wear a magnum tag. I want the all-in-one tag that says 038 Magnum, but my IPL only lists the plain 038 tag and magnum sticker. Anyone know the part no of the 038M badge?

As far as I know they don't make them any more, second hand is the only way you'll get an aluminum tag.
