038 magnum with 044 parts

So, the project is an 038 magnum. The question is will a rear handle from 044 bolt up to an 038, or will the 044 air filter base plate, air filter stud and fliter housing fit on the 038.
In theory since the 044 is thd newest version of the 038 the main body of the saw is the same.
Ultimate goal is to have better and more efficient airflow and have the ability to put a full wrap bar on the 038.

The answer is no on all fronts, and you can get a wrap for an 038.

Well i appreciate the answer at least, where do you find a full wrap for an 038?
Loggers of ole used to have the wildest saws out there, seemed like a decent way to go looking for answers.

the chainsaw forum or the trading post would get you "better" results though there be a lot of armchair muckanicks in them parts

also lots of used parts on ebay, maybe even what you need

in all reality though you would be a whole lot happier with an 044, then the venerable 038's

The 044 and the 038 are about as related as apples and bananas. Other than the color and brand they don't share much other than a couple screws. They are based on two completely different designs, the 044 is a newer design and shares a lot of parts with the 046 but that's about it.

I am aware of a build some years ago where an 038 jug and slug were grafted to an 036 case and crank. If you poked around a bit, you might find that discussion.
