038 Super pro

I need a chain break hand guard for this saw, what other Stihl saw has a hand guard the same as the 038 super pro.

What makes this saw jerk the starter rope out of my hand when I pull the rope to start the saw runing. The saw does not have points. (It like the timeing is off and it is fireing to soon)

try ebay for the brake handle.. does the saw have a decompression button? it might just have alot of compression or something could be off timing etc..

I'll try to remember to look at my parts 038 to see if it has the brake hand guard.
Not sure about the jerking starter rope problem. An elastostart handle does take a lot of the shock out of it though if you want to spend about 15 to$20 or more mabe. I don't know if the gap between the flywheel and coil could cause the problem or not or if its possible the flywheel isn't tightened down properly on the crankshaft with a good key in place. I had an 034 that would jerk the starter back at times and the elastostart seemed to be an significant improvement.

The part number for the Brake/handguard is 1117 790 9100. It's available new for about $28.

Yep, just put on a elastostart. Use the same as for the 044.

Will the 044 hand guard work on the 038. If not is there any Stihl saw that has the same hand guard as the 038 super pro My 038 AV is not made like the super pro. Stihl put a hand guard on this 038 AV but no chain brake

Did the brake handle break or burn through?
If it burned through, there may be a deflector missing on the exhaust inlet casing at the outlet.
I only say this because I have only seen about 2 of these saws, and both had the same problem.

Will the 044 hand guard work on the 038. If not is there any Stihl saw that has the same hand guard as the 038 super pro My 038 AV is not made like the super pro. Stihl put a hand guard on this 038 AV but no chain brake

No... Only the 038 1117 part fits.
