Guys help me out.
I don't have any experience of this saw, but I bought an 041 AV in a job lot of saws very cheap, including its share of the shipping it only cost me about $19 US, sold as needing everythng between the carb and the air filter cover. Poured a little mix into the carb it fires and sounds good for as long as the fuel lasts, but doesn't seem to want to take any fuel from the tank?
So I decide its worth fixing up and finally found another one selling as spare or repairs, but with a bust recoil assembly. Got the new one today and as I already had the first one in pieces, I tried the recoil on the new saw and got it running inside 10 minutes.
My dilemma is both look in similar condition. But the second is a little worse for wear as some of the casings are cracked and due to the fact that the recoil assembly and the fuel tank are one unit, I figure this is going to be a little more costly to make good.
I actually paid more for the second saw than I did the first, but my rationale was that this was still going to be much cheaper than buying parts from a dealer would be (even if they could still get hold of them)
I'm sure I could look out for another one and hopefully find one with parts to sort out both, but what if it too was viable? I can see myself turning into some kind of chain saw equivalent of the old woman with 30 cats!!
The bottom line really is; do you think this is a worthy enough saw to merit trying to get both back in service?
