I dont think a Piston and cylinder from an 048 will fit on an 041AVE super case. they're two TOTALLY different machines. the mufflers wouldnt work either. I'd opt for the 045AVsuper II its supposed to be around 85CCs or so, I cant really recall. but you can modify, and bolt a jug and piston from an 056 onto an 045 case for more power,

BTW, Welcome to the site.

I'm not sure which saw is better. They are both big, heavy, and old. The 045 super is a 87cc saw. The 041 super is a 72cc saw. The 045 super is a more powerful saw.

No such thing as a 045 Super II. Just somebody putting a sticker on a saw. Where did you see one? Mike's Acres??

You can put an 056 56mm barrel on a 045, but from what I've heard the crank isn't as good.

Chris (fellow Hoosier)- I thought the 056 Mag II cylinder (56 mm) had a different bolt pattern than the Super (54mm) and standard (52mm). No biggie, I'm just asking for trivia's sake, and because I don't know for sure.

So how's the weather back home?

Jeff,

You're absolutely corrrect. You have to machine the bolt holes outward some. Everything else works.

Today, the weather was sunny and 75. But I was inside the BOF making steel, so I didn't see it.

Fish! You must be kidding around! Washington is incredible! Possibly one of the most fabulous places in the country! Spend a bit more time there and you'll forget all about Indiana! I understand the family and friends thing, though.

Andre, my friend, I'll put it this way: I spent my whole life in Indiana until I joined the Coast Guard and started working on helos. I got stationed in Alaska, and that place consumed me. I miss it. I suppose WA is a decent substitute behind Montana and the Western states, but I'm ready to leave and go back to Kodiak and retire there someday. I can't stand the taxes, the politics, and the urbanization here. The fishing is mediocre, the hunting is so-so, but the timber is nice, and that keeps me happy. Olympic Nat'l Park in my back yard is sweet as is all the BLM, forrest service and state land. It ain't all bad here. As far as Indiana, I'm originally from the Southern part, which is entirely different thatn the Northern part, which is where I graduated high school. Both are fine, but the Southern part of the state, and it's hills and backcountry will always have me going back every so often.

Jeff,

I'm in the NW corner, kinda near Gary. It's still an hour drive on a good day. (And it would probably be a bad day if I had to go to Gary. :p ) I live plenty far away from the cities, but over the last 10-15 years more city folk have been moving out this way. And bringing their bullsh!t with them...

Chris

Fish, point well taken on the politics and urbanization (not to mention home prices... whoa!!) We have similar insanity going on here in Arizona. I would have thought Port Angeles was a little bit more removed from it all. The Olympic Peninsula is fabulous... like another planet. My wife and I have bought in a nice little area south of Flagstaff, landlocked on 3 sides by a national forest (mostly Ponderosa, Pinyon, Juniper of various types, and pockets of oak.) We just took a 2 hour hike, never saw a soul (unless you include a dozen or so elk). Long live the open spaces!

Must have some tough tours of duty flying helos up there! In fact, that's the ONLY thing I miss about the midwest... the instrument time!

Andre- You're right about the OP. Best part of the state. Our city folk immigrants are coming from Seattle and California.

And you're also right about home prices. It's gonna have to bust or stop here soon. It's getting downright ridiculous, and now there's more homes on the market than there are customers, and people aren't able to sell homes like they where this time last year.

Amen to open spaces!
