044 air filters and covers ??? was there a NON-HD??

Hey guys,

I was looking for a 044 filter cover, and ran across this: USED Stihl 044 Air Filter Cover - eBay (item 330545168126 end time Mar-24-11 16:47:46 PDT)

I've heard of the EARLY 064/66's having a small filter...didn't know the 044's did...


am I losing my mind here?? :dunno:

That's the Arctic style filter cover for Arctic saws sold in North America. That style was also used on many saws sold outside of North America. It's basically the same style as the low-profile filter and cover used on the Arctic 064/066.

ah, interesting... so...

similar to the NEW Arctic/winter 064 cover I have.. (which was bought by accident...lol)

so...did they change it for the 440?? looks like they still use the normal HD filter mount??

It just takes a filler plate and the metal adapter that bolts to the carb studs plus the higher heavy duty outer cover along with the oval heavy duty filter.

I don`t know,..all my 044 and 440`s are non heavy duty filters. The non heavy duty filters work much better and allow the engines to run freer than the heavy duty filters do.
