Does the 660 look like it’s running lean? Muffler is whiteish

Does this 660 muffler look right or have the color of running lean?? I’m really new to this saw and only have couple runs on it milling some small pieces. Actually I lied. I cut down a walnut tree and cut about 5 rounds off it, it ran pretty good

Hard to say by that alone if its lean or not- but it looks to have certainly been hot AF.
When you got it, the muffler had not been painted in standard paint- not stove paint, or manifold paint?
Wasnt covered in sap or anything?

Can you tune a saw ?
Running to lean can score the piston and seize the saw.
Take it to a certified dealer and have them tune it or watch some videos and learn how to tune it yourself.
If you pull the plug, light grey to white indicates she's running to lean.

What ratio fuel mix are you running?

It was already this color when I bought it. But I run 40-1. It sounds little rich when it’s running but I’ll check the plug

If you are milling with the muffler right up close to the timber face- it might be struggling to get rid of all the gasses and heat with a lack of air space and circulation- extended cut times and a less than perfect chain in hard timber all compound the heat issues.

You might try running Red Armor at 32:1 when milling. I also agree with @Bob Hedgecutter statement about the lack of air space and circulation. It could be excessive heat in addition to lean/rich settings.
