Amoungst My Saws........Fool That Has Too Many!!!
I recently picked up a used 044. I bought a 24" bar for it. I had some full chisel - full skip chain on hand and decided to try it. The saw holds high revs better and seems to cut just as fast as full comp chain. An added bonus is that I have 1/2 the cutters to sharpen. I appreciate any comments anyone may have.

full skip

Alot more of the loggers out here are finding they like the chain for the same reasons. As fast as saws run now, how many teeth do you really need? Also, lots of room for chips to be removed. Used it on an 028 super and was not impressed, but have not run it on a larger saw. After just sharpening a 20 inch .325 chain, less teeth would be great.

rich,
i use full-skip a great deal. i find it works well for open face-bore cutting. it also seems to keep the powerhead in the powerband. it is recommended for saws above 4.0 cubes with longer bars. i mostly use it on the 372xp with a 8 tooth rim and 20 inch bar. from butt to branches it proforms great. if you are not too sure about full-skip, try the semi-skip. that seems to cut well too. marty
