044 jug & Piston

If you go to the Bailey's site. Then hit Products, Chainsaws, then parts and access, you'll find a kit for $99.00 US. Price seems good but I think it is an offshore product.

Has anyone complained so far? If the part is good, does it matter where it's made? At least taiwan pretends to like us. Thats more than can be said for germany.

Lucky- I've had a good, long look at those Taiwanese cylinder and piston sets. In them you'll see casting flaws, misaligned castings, rough edges and "cauliflower" casting around the port edges, and brand new nikasil that's already flaking. You'll also see wrist pin bosses on pistons that are just slightly off, and wrist pin clip seats that aren't always exactly verticle.

I got talking to a guy at Baileys, and he did say he had some returns, and mentioned, the flaking issue. JJ seems to have went thru them with a fine tooth comb. Most people would not see these flaws with an untrained eye, even next to a Stihl set. I'm guessing these parts would work if you got one of the "less flawed sets" but would it last, even close to a Stihl part? I ended up buying a "used original Stihl set", from Cheap Stihl Parts on Ebay.

Thanks Mark,

BTW the 026 has been busy, hasn't missed a beat. Cuts real well in eastern red cedar, cut about 35 trees down yesterday and bucked up into posts. I like it for limbing better than a 038, 440, or the 066 for sure! Thinking about having the 440 or the 066 ported.

Van

Van 2 of those chains came from jeff. He has decent prices but no square ground chain. I told you that saw was a runner. Sounds nice to boot.

Mark,
You bet it sounds nice, sounds like a lot bigger club running than it is. Sounds better than my MS 660 Mag.

Its not an issue if Taiwan or China likes us the point is some fatcat multimillionaire ********* has gone to cheap inferior labor so he can squeeze even more money into his/her pockects.

JJ

JJ,
Did you ever get a chance to see if you had any used 044 jug and piston sets laying around that were good? I also need a muffler, Pm me with the price if you have the parts.
Thanks,
Van
