Just curious. Which saw would you rather have, of these two older Stihls. They are both around the same weight and cc's I guess, any pros and cons on either? Thanks Mike!

I almost prefer my 045 Super. It's a bit lighter (no chainbrake with resulting lighter bar cover) and seems to bog less easily. I'm not smart enough to notice a 7cc difference. If I step 6cc more down to my 045, that saw will turn some high revs.

What is better about the Magnum crank? I do know that you can't interchange clutch packs.

The crank and bearings were beefed up for the larger displacement. Cranks were a weak spot when used daily.

Weight/HP
Anyone have the actual weight or HP specs for either saw? On acresinternet.com I saw as high as 18.48 lbs for an 045 and 17.8 for an 056. Have not seen any HP figures for either saw.

Got a 1990 Stihl brochure, it lists the 056AV Magnum II as
93.6 cc 18.3 lb. 5.0 kw engine power.Don't have any
045 data.
