Got a strange one to work on today. Guy was cutting a tree(state saw hardly used) with it and it just quit. He figured out that it had no spark. So he went and got another running 046 with a busted handle assembly. He made sure it ran, took the module out and poped it in the other saw. It ran good for 10 minutes he said and then died, no spark again.

I have no idea whats up. I ordered 2 new modules today. Not sure what to do.

Most of the people that come in with a similar story, have no
ignition problems at all. But fuel/air problems. I never rely on
another's diagnosis. The newer Stihl's have a lifetime warranty
on the ignition, which illustrates even more the doubt I have
about the failure of these coils, as it is extremely rare. Before
ordering a batch of these coils, I would verify for myself the
problem, just my opinion.

Well I cut timber with this guy for 18 months, think he knows what he is doing.
Plug was a wsr6f bosch.

I put both modules back in and checked grounds and the like. No difference, both were dead.
Ordered one so ill have a place to start!.

Not wanting any fight.
Contact the Stihl dealer, it should be under warranty, if it is
indeed an ignition problem.
If you have worked with him for 18 months cutting wood, does
not equate with someone that fixes them. Not trying to be
arrogant or argumentative, but those who cut wood for a living
are by nature extremely hard headed, and convinced that they
are always right.
I am just suggesting that you do not have an ignition problem.
If you are close to me, come by and let me see what you have.

I will not charge you a dime.

I work at the dealer, i fix about 50% of the saws.

Not saying he knows what he is doing, just saying he wouldnt feed me a load of $hit.

Never had anything like this happen...

got a chance to take my first look at it today.. hehe bad piston& cylinder

When the spark plug is almost a silver gray color from aluminum shavings its not a good sign.
so i put the plug back, gave her a tug, thought the compression release was on :D

NGK vs ?? Bosch

Got new Bosch plugs in.... made in India ??
Any others seen them WSR6F ??

I thought that Bosch was a German Co. hehe I guess the labor rate in India is more favorable- huh ??

NGK plugs I have used no problems- I'm curious about these Made in India Bosch plugs

Borderless Corporations

I reaaly don't care where the product is made as long as it is good.

Used to be very loyal to MADE IN THE USA but I don't think they are as loyal as they used to be.

Whoever they are.

As fr as INDIA goes, 30 years ago most Indians in the USA would get educated and stay in the USA. Today the majority of Indians getting educated are going back to India.

Were else can you make $30,000 a year and and a driver, maid and butler?

And if you don't like your wife tell your mom and she will set here on fire. It's a tradition ya know.
