I have a chance to buy an 046 that's in pretty good shape and runs well, but the handle is cracked/broken. What's the best way to repair this, ie epoxy or should i consider an new handle. How difficult is it to replace? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks:bang:

Do you mean the brake handle or the rear handle?

Hard to tell without seeing it, but combination of epoxy and reinforcing rods Will fix most. If a part is missing (ie. it was tied to a rope by the handle..), just bend a "U" of soft steel or aluminum, bolt it to both parts and then epoxy.

You can also just replace the tank with a used 044 tank - easier to find than 046. All you'll have to do is change out the carb mount studs - they are a different length.

The best way is a good used tank/handle assembly. Many sponsors should be able to supply you one.

I use JB weld for most all my repairs on covers, rear handle cracks etc.
On cracks I make small holes along and at the end of the crack before application. With JB the color lightens up when you smooth it out with sandpaper. It has held up very well for me on several repairs. Does anyone know of an better epoxy?
