In need of a new cylinder assembly. I've been hunting around with no such luck thus far. I can find the Golf pistons, but no detailed information on them such as specs... let alone the Golf manufacturer's website.

My garage just got filled with 3 creamsicles, 2 of em are not running, one needs an oil pump. :bang:

son of a #####... the other is a 042...

Well, at least I can manage to find a pump for the 280C... or so I hope.

Go figure, I haven't had any luck!

We've heard rumors that the 042 cylinder assembly can work, can anyone verify or bust that rumor for me?

I sent you a PM too... I have a nice 042 cylinder, so looks like you may be in luck on both saws. Good luck to you either way!

I bought a golf piston to suit my MS192. I had to modify the piston to get it to fit the con rod so I was not impressed with the quality.

Phil

You aren't the first I've read about as far as negatives go with Golf. I'll be steering clear.

The 042 and 048 piston and cylinder will interchange, and neither one will with any other Stihl models. The 042/048 was a short lived saw that came around in the late 70's and was gone in the early 80's, maybe 2-3 years total. I have managed to find some NOS parts at local old timer Stihl dealers.

EDIT:
I have a early model 042 that I am restoring.

cool, now i just need a cylinder.

the 042 just needed a carb kit. never needed a cylinder assembly. dono where that was picked up on, must have been my wording?
