Hello All
I was following this auction on ebay. Thought I might put in a last minute bid until I saw what the auction was up to. Saw looks very good but $666 is more than I can afford for a saw that old even if it is like new:) From what I can find out that price is around the same price they went for when brand new.
What do you think?

Regards

Phil

Hey Phil,
Seen worse!
But who knows. What market price is, compared to what some one will pay is huge sometimes.
Also look at the bidding. Seeing how the bidder with a 2 feedback decided to really ramp the bid up?

The OP is from Australia, but it's a US auction. The saw is from New Jersey. I highly doubt this is a legitimate sale. An 048 simply isn't worth that kind of money.

Tough to say, Brad....I have no idea if that was a legitimate auction or not, but I sold my 048 on Feebay about a year ago and achieved $490 for the powerhead.....It's all about the right day and the right buyers.

doesn't surprise me for an Australian auction...

The last 048 sold in an Australian auction went for around the $400 mark. It was in about the same condition. Australian dollar is almost the same value as the US dollar at the moment. I don't know if it is a legitimate auction or not but if it is the seller would have to be happy with the price:)

Regards

Phil

Have to agree with this. It isnt typical to see a 042 or 048 bring good money (atleast in comparison to other Stihls of the same size). Clean saw, looks like it should bring about half of what it did.
