ive been offered an 064 nearly mint but is probably about 10+ years old.
recon its only done about 20 hours max...... ive only ever run 88's and 66's.i wanna run a 36 or 32 " bar i was looking to get a new 395 is this saw a worthy competator? it will only cost me half a days work wich is a lot cheaper than a new 395 to replace my 288 but im just interested to see if any one runs one and what they think of it or should i take the money and keep running the 288 for a bit longer

If saw is what you say........It's worth a easy $500
I would do a day or twos work for it........but my labor may
be cheaper than yours :)

well i know it was only ever used to clear up and log three large trees it just depends on weather the stone head gardener remembered t put 2 stroke in a the petrol thats put me off i have had the saw running for the new gardener and it seems ok needed it bit of tuning and ran a bit rough but i did not use it properly and it not been started in three years....but he wont use it as its to big and its sat there since.

If I was not hurting for money, I would gamble the 1/2 days work
that the saw is OK. If it is good but you don't like it, trade it in
on what you think you want. If it's not good you have just lost
a few hours out of the day.

I have a 064 that I like.......but have only used a 24" bar and chain on it.

yeah its worth the gamble in theory it should not cost me a lot just the groundys wages.....probably e bay it or trade though not really a stihl fan and its spec does not look as good as the my husky 288 after a bit of research

but hey you can never have enough saws ..i bet that rips with a 24"

It dose a very good job, won't hang with 066 but will make a 460
seem weak.......but thats the way it should be.

Before someone says.............talking stock saws :)

I have an 064 that I use pretty regular. IT has a 24" and has power to spare. I cut a lot of hardwood,(oak, ash).

064 is my main saw! wears a 24in bar.

my 046 hardly gets action anymore. 064 barely weight more than 046 with loads more grunt.

found mine in close to mint condition. 064 has ran close to flawless, needing very little. a no fuss saw!
