How much of this baffle should be removed to help with flow?I have no baffle in my husqvarna and it runs very well.:D Dan

The older style 066 had a dual port exhaust and didn't have any baffles in the muffler. It was also much stronger than current models.

Here are some posts

This one is for a simple port modification.

This one tells you to open the exhaust muffler up to 125% of port size:

Thanks Brian and Don!!I've had older 066 without the baffle in them, just wanted a little more confermation that some of it is removable.Did find out that if you turn a Stihl bar stud to the narrow side you can run HUSKY BARS.The saw I got last week the bar studs where loose I got messing around and found I could fit my 372 20 and 28 inch bars on the 066.I did drill out the oil holes(I always drill them larger anyway)and had good oil flow and tracked correctly, cut 2 truck loads of wood with no problems.:D Dan

Tell me again and any pictures would help

How do you convert a stihl to run a Husky bar?

The 066 has a wide side and a narrow side to the bar mount stud. The wide side fits a stihl 12mm opening,if you turn the bar mount stud to the narrower side a husqvarna 9mm bar will fit.I had a stock 20" husky bar on my 066,it lined up good with bar adjustment and oiler was useable with an enlarged oil port. The bar itself is narrow than a stilh bar,but seemed to work fine.Oregon 28" powermatch also worked, but not as well.:D Dan

bar stud

Where did you find these bar studs? I have never seen them new. But on an older saw with some hours, I have seen a loose bar wear flats on the stud top and bottom. This may be what you have. Sounds like it might work.

The bar studs came on the saw that I got, wide side is 12mm some rounding, the narrow side is just under 9mm. With the bars studs being loose(have fixed since) the narrow side moves around til it keeps the smaller slot tight.Holes line up and it works.Don't know if they are stock studs or not,but would be easy enough to make.:D Dan

The bar stud on the stihl and the husqvarna are the same thread and the only difference is the stihl is milled with a 12mm spot where thebar sets. You should be able to take out Stihl bar stud and replace it with a husky bar stud and make it work.Or grind down 2 sides of a stihl stud and be able both bars.I went out this morning (8 degrees)and put the husky bar back on my 066.You do have to remove the small screw that holds on the metal plate that covers oiler opening, and use a smaller screwdriver to adjust the chain. When you put the two bars together there is not much difference except for the bar slot.:D Dan
