As Lakeside pointed out to me, on the more recent Stihls (at least some of them) the date is on the sticker. MD xxxxxxx . My 066 is starts with something like 147 and the stickers says MD 0006.

Well into poly on yours?

Lakeside clears it up again. I guess my post was clear as mud. June 2000 (bought new July 2001). Same year as my 395, I believe.... It was a very good year.

Hey B, I used to live in Renton. Off of 192nd on the side of the hill overlooking the valley. Nice view of the Olympics. I still have a sister there off of 208th. I missed the last 066, but am lining up one right now with a MD 0601. That is real new.

We only see trees, no view. Like everyplace else, it is growing up so fast it is maddening. If I didn't have such a great shop I would move further out somewheres. Don't want to go through the shopbuilding again. 1700 sq ft, in floor heat, etc. Built better than our house, and I regulary hear about it.

MD 0601. It is probably legit, as it hasn't even had time to be stolen yet! Right off the boat from Germany. Hope it works out.

New Saw

Lake and B thanks for all your help with ID and manufactured dates. I can not find a MD on my new today 660, but the SN is 16113.. so it is newer then 2000. This came from a Stihl shop in Wi. It came with a 20" bar and chain that I could not find on the Stihl web site. .404 063 on a 20" bar. I got him to through in a new nose and a 3/8 chain to convert this bar over. A couple of pics.

On the flat part under the rear handle, where you put your foot when
starting the saw on the ground.

My sticker was on the inside flat of the handle/tail. Has bunch of numbers including a MD xxxx.

I was afraid of that. I noticed the sticker was mostly gone on the handle. I will look to see if the number is on the part that is left. I cut a couple of cords of oak today. It runs really nice. Very smooth, really fast. I have an older dual port that actually has 2 exits from the main body. I think it will fit on my 660. I'll have to try it when I get home. Nice saw overall and great compression.:blob2:

Ther is one more nice oak standing dead. We may try that one on Tuesday.

Yeah I found it only on one,,,, out of all my 066's but as was previously stated, we are blessed to have Lakeside to find out so much stuff that is useful,,,, I did finish about 3/4 of my Muffler mod on my mildly ported 066 today got the rear of the muffler opened up to match the exhaust port and got all of the inner baffel removed, opened the hole in the deflector a bit but i coud not get the screw out of the front cover to open the slot in the dual port cover, I put it all back together just to try it and Wow!!!!!!! does it have some punch and a disticly differnt sound,,,, had to re adjust the carb completly and I fattened it up pretty good cause it is only on its second tank of fuel since the topend job it really is a torque monster it is really sweet cant wait to get my tubing exhaust port installed in the side of the muffler...

147xxxxxx should be right around 1999/very early 2000. My system is down so for now I can't pin it any closer..

Thanks Andy,,,,,, let me knowThe cylinder was pretty close to being a wash out but I was thinking of doing all my woods port mods and then sending it to get it re-plated @ Milleinium if it is economically feasible a little under 150. before shipping
