084 blew up

My mill saw blew up anyone by chance know here I can get a good used cylinder and piston I desperately need this going again. Local shop has been looking for months with no luck at all

Piston is same as 088/880 and Epsian makes an affordable replacement of decent quality, though they can be hard to find.

Lotsa luck with the jug. They are not common and not cheap. Not sure if new OEM is still available from Stihl ?

When you say "blew up" what do you mean ? If the crank is damaged, then it's likely not worth rebuilding.

Piston is scored and it wont start the shop says I should replace cylinder and piston

when i popped my 084 sawmilling i was able to muriatic acid it and throw a hone in it it took alot of work but it's almost impossible to find a good used jug for them and i used a 30.00 dollar golf piston off of feebay and have nothing but good luck...the jug had a few small scuffs that i cleaned up with 3000 grit sand paper..as of about six months ago stihl still offered the complete top end for 395.00 thats when i was looking..good luck and i hope it all works out cuz I know how you feel

If the piston is scored there's a good chance you have an air leak and might need crank bearings and seals. Don't put a new piston in without looking into that 1st. When this happened to me the first time with my 066 I checked for an air leak and it was OK so I put on a new cylinder -and promptly toasted it. Turned out that if I pushed solidly on the crank during the vacuum test I could get it to leak - bad bearings. Don't fall for that one either.

The muratic acid treatment should work and for a milling saw a few scratches wouldn't be the worst thing but if the cylinder is toast and you can't find a replacement you should be able to get it replated.

The 084 is getting fixed eventually ( dealer is buisy and slow ) just bought an 090 now i just need to get a bar and chain for it id like to find a 24 to 32 inch any help would be appreciated thanks

Actually the bar adjustment wont line up and i dont want to drill the bar
