What product would be recommended to keep the muffler bolts on my 084 from vibrating loose all the time. The bolts going into the jug and the bottom muffler cover bolts going into the case are the problem. Is high strength Loc-tite effective in a high temp application?

Thanks,
Muley

my first thought was locktite red.. but just plan before you use that stuff.. the red is perm and takes lots of heat to break the seal.. IF you use it be CAREFUL and use a very small amount.. and be warned that those bolts may NEVER come out again.. had an exhaust manifold bolt on a truck engine keep backing out.. gooped it up with red locktite.. never did back out again.. but when it came time to replace the manifolds.. that bolt ended up snapping off and had to be drilled out and hole retapped. i would first try new bolts and some lock washers (might not be pretty, but should work)
i now avoid locktite red after that experiance.

If bolts have hex heads, you might fashion locking tabs form suitable heavy sheet metal or thin flat stock. This is common for connecting rod cap bolts.

Secruing Bolts:

Hello to all. I only use locktite as a last resort. As far as the muffler bolts go, drill across the heads and use some small wire to safety wire them together so that they don't back out. I did alot of it when working on Army helicopters. My 2 cent worth. Take care. Lewis Brander.
