:blob2: :blob2: Well, my 084 showed up from Dean with a stage 3T yesterday. I put in some gas and oil, and it started up real easy. Sounds nice, real deep and throaty, alot more like a dirt bike than a chainsaw. This is my first saw with a decompression port. Really makes starting nicer. This saw is alot easier to start than my 066 without the decomp port. I don't have any tree/wood to cut around my house , so I'll have to wait till weekend to give it a try. I guess i'll try to get a few tanks of gas through it before I get it on the mill. Although, i'm a little excited cause I have some 40 inch honey locust crotch i'm waiting to slab up. I'll post more about the results after I get it in some wood.

Ah... the problem with porting... I sure wouldn't run mine in a mill at 100% power... If yours has the rev limiting coil (CDIC) it's harder to tune, so be careful.

Take it easy... Milling is rough on saws.

Tried it out saturday

I finally got a chance to run my 084 on saturday. I was using it to clean up downed tree tops all over my property from logging before I bought it. Most of the stuff i was cutting was only 10-12". Man, that is one HEAVY saw to lug around through the woods for clean up type cutting. I was very impressed though. I've never cut with anything so fast. Just set the bar on the log, and it was through it instantly. The saw ran well, but seemed like it had some hesitation on throttle response. Is that something that would be normal from modifying? It also had a tendancy to die out if just idleing for a few seconds. It also really consumed some gas. It is a gas guzzler if i ever saw one. overall wow factor.:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: great!!!

Sounds like the carb isn't quite adjusted right for your area, or, you have another problem. Hesitation is often not rich enough on L, and chugging out on idle is often too rich, so you need to find a balance between accelaration and the LA screw. Try turning up the L screw (CCW) a little and compensating for the decreased idle with the LA. Turn up LA until the chain starts to just run, then back a bit.

Before you do any of this, call Dean and talk to him.. he is your dealer support now ;)

Absolutely! As you know, juice, my 084 has had the same work done to it by Dean. One thing I can absolutely vouch for is Dean's support of his own work (and then some) after the sale. I've had several conversations on the phone with him tweaking out a few issues that popped up on my saw and I can't be happier with the end result. Just keep in mind you have an old saw you are teaching new tricks.:)

Throttle response on my saw is excellent. As Lake said, it's probably the carb settings.

When milling I set the WTO RPM's with bar and chain mounted as close to 10000 as I can with a tach. I've logged several hours milling (guessing 4-5 hours of actual time in the cut) with this setting and I've checked the inside of the cylinder regularly through the exhaust/ spark plug ports. So far, so good.

Have fun, be careful and keep us posted.

Thanks for the info guys. Dean called me today, and we discussed some adjustments for teh carb. What i was talking about was NOT bad. It was just noticing some minor things when taking a real close look at a new toy. I absolutely love this saw now. It was a blast to play with. All I can say, is this saw is just plain bad a$$. I'll get a few more tanks of gas through it, then i'll set it up for playing on the mill. That's the only place i'm likely to ever use this saw once I get it broken in. Well, maybe a little playing once in a while, but it's just too heavy to use for firewood/land cleanup. This saw starts nice and easy, runs real strong.
