A couple weeks ago I did a post on theses tree's, and we finally got them down yesterday. All three trees were between 100 ft. and 105 ft. The first one measured 44", the second 19" and the third 28". I was planning on climbing/limbing them but the guy that was taking the logs said he'd bring down his "man-reach" SWEET. This was just pretty much a cut-n-dry job, didn't have to haul any brush, just took it to the end of the yard. Used a husky 385 with a 32 " bar, to fell them. Had to pull the third tree away from the road, but that was no big deal. The one thing i was curious about though, is all the trees are about 75 years old. So why is there one huge, one medium and one small tree ???

I'd say the middle one was suppressed by the others and was short of sunshine. Eventually it would probably have been smothered completely.

Cheers

How come you didn't just fall them? I don't understand why you were thinking of climbing them or why you used the manlift. Am I missing something or what? Nice they are down, but help me out here.

tap root

Maybe the big one got its tap root into the underground aquafer a day or two before the other two, winning the race. Survival of the fittest...

The yard we were falling them onto was another guys property, i just wanted to limb as much as i could so i didn't have as many limbs sticking in the ground. The tree in the middle i wasn't to worried about, and the tree closest to the road i wanted to get as much weight off of that side to make it a little easier to pull over. Otherwise, i would've just done it all on the ground.

Thank you, now I get it, I was hoping there was a reason 'cause I was puzzled, you see funny stuff here sometimes.
