This muffler seems still choked for a Husq 372. Is a 12-ga barrel stub too much? Naturally the vent rib and bead sight would remain.

I have a whole pile of sawed off shotguns. That's my business. I also have some leftover barrel pieces. Is a 12 ga barrel of suitable diameter for an unported 372XP?

Its about backpressure and flow. The diameter should be fine just make sure its long enough (1-1/2 or 2") so that it muffles the noise a bit.

I put 1 inch pipe in the one I modded, it's pretty close to that size.
If you stick the pipe 1 1/2 to 2 inches into the muffler it's not too loud. If the pipe is really short it will be quite loud.
Can't a guy go to jail for having a cut off shot gun? Well, maybe not if its sticking out of a muffler, but ya never know....

The 70-75 cc saws seem to run good with a 3/4 - 1 " opening in the muffler. I try to point the exhaust so that it does not melt or burn the chainsaw parts but definitely try to not point it straight forward. Some of pipe sticking back into the muffler can does help with noise reduction , will disrupt flow and cause a bit of back pressure but not enough concern unless its a full out race comparison.
