my latest project is a 1612 skilsaw chainsaw, i disassembled it and sandblasted it and painted the parts.
i got it together last night and tried starting it , after several pulls it got very hard to pull! lots and lots of compression! after some time i found out the crankcase had bar oil in it!? i have read that these old saws had a problem with a bar oil check valve going bad? this allows oil to get in crankcase!? i've not tore it down yet. i know this is very old school, but someone might know something about these old saws?
