Thanks. He doesn't have anything for the 70, but I did get an IPL for an L-50 a while back which should help.
Modified Mark worked on some of the Lombards but I don`t know if h had IPL`s for them, they were rather scarce saws around here but there must be some info out there on them. Have you asked Ray or Charlie over on the request for manuals?

This 90 degree fitting screwed into the oil tank is where the duckbill checkvalve is supposed to be.

Its made to let crankcase pressure into the tank to pressurize it so it will oil. If its bad it will also let oil get sucked back into the crankcase when its under vacuum.

Once you remove the fitting from the tank there is a sleeve in it to hold the duckbill valve in place. (its probably not there anymore) I think I used a 10-32 tap into the sleeve then threaded a 10-32 screw into it to pull the sleeve out.

A common easy to find Green Poulan or Black Homelite duckbill checkvalve will fit right in it then just press the sleeve back in.

Here is a checkvalve https://www.ebay.com/itm/121136284453?_skw=poulan+checkvalve&itmmeta=01JBZ7A6HBJ3N0WESASESHE5MY&hash=item1c34490325:g:3FoAAOxyQ45RAVqZ&itmprp=enc:AQAJAAAA0HoV3kP08IDx+KZ9MfhVJKkzjWKUm08GWmPaGIMRG+a4b1uh05ZzLyrTd/EphPfCmDLGhERvBD7YAOOMrJ9+vlExCG7A6CIr19XDpYGyhqVILKvPNf0uN031k4w7X7Kk6On7r5V7XA4hwCeHTcuStyfFASzJ8sBxxwq6RikUxDO9BZnAp8Kb/EDIQKvj/YRjsJoqovT6gbndQmq7+qpnnaTGPHBzU0n4bt6DbjW5JCTmBlpuzQGImTsqMWRQ2UNZScKu1N4Zay76+p0GbL4uEaA=|tkp:Bk9SR-LoqOffZA

Thanks for the info,I ordered 3 of them and have them in hand.i am going to try and find a exploded view of this area to see which end of the ‘bill’ goes which direction,or can you help with that? This might be a dumb question but should that go on the other fitting?the one that comes from the cylinder?I am having a problem visualizing how it works. I am assuming that on the compression stroke it pushes a small amount of that pressure in to the holding tank and then on the exhaust stroke it sucks the end of the bill closed ? But how would it work if the bill is on the feed to bar line?

Modifiedmark. I am having the same issue with my saw. When I pulled the sleeve out there was a nylon (maybe) tube that was in there also. Does the duckbill valve go in first then the nylon then the sleeve? The nylon has a flange on the end that sits against the sleeve. When I get the valve will it be self explanatory how it goes in? Any chance you could explain the order or how to install it all? Thanks for any and all help.

I have not been in enough to know all the differences and don't remember one with a nylon sleeve. Brass sleeve yes.. Regardless the flanged end needs to go into the fitting first, (and fit tight against it) and the duckbill lips need to go to the tank.

First thanks for a reply. Here is what I did. I put the nylon in first the, the duckbill next and then the metal sleeve last. The duckbill pointing towards the tank. Seems to work. The pic is how I belive the parts came out.

Just ran it for a little bit. Still smokes a little on startup but not really bad like it was. I know I have to get the oil burned out. I really don't use it much but have a problem if things don't work like they should.
