Can anyone help me out with the resale value of a good condition(looks) Poulan K100 Chainsaw. It has been in my parent's attic for over 40 years. The rope pulls and all parts are there, but I have'nt tried to start it. It has a 24" blade. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Poulan made quite a few of those. I might be way off base, but with a straight bar, I doubt it is worth more than $100. With a bow it would be a little higher.

Well you have ran it through eBay now how many times with your price on it without a bid yet, so I think it's safe to say it's not worth what you thought it is worth.

I'm the one who contacted you about the saw and tried to explain that it is not one of the more desirable, sought after models, regardless of condition.

You ended the communication before I could make you a reasonable offer on it.

Hi, just trying to get an idea, bad weather keeping me from taking it to shop to make sure everything is ok. Money goes to my mother, so trying to get the best I can. Have seen a couple on sites at $300+. Not expecting that, but wanted more info before I accepted your offer. I still will respond when I know more about it. Sorry.

Yep, probably $75-$100 is a realistic price. That appears to be a later one, as both of mine have 3 stud bar mounts. If you try to run it and score the piston, it will be worth it's weight in scrap metal.

I gave $50 for mine and I had opportunity to hear it pop over before I bought it. This was the price from another local that collects old saws and he understood what he had. The K100 isn't a super desirable saw. If you are interested in selling it I'd like to make an offer as I prefer the older cast saws. I also respect the fact that Modified Mark tried to offer you something first. If he isn't interested please let me know by starting a conversation / private message.

Oh I understand that, trying to get what it's worth for your mother and all, but we also see this asked all the time with new members joining just to ask the value of some old saw they found.

It's really old so it has to be worth at least a small fortune to someone? Sorry that's not always the way it goes. I tried to explain that it's a small farmer/homeowner model that was sold in good quantities, was inexpensive when new and is not particularly rare.

Most guys would only have interest in it if it was given to them for free or just a couple bucks.

I really only had interest in it because I collect Poulan's, don't have that model, and it is in good condition even if it does have a missing muffler diffuser and oiler button.

Just ceasing communication with me though was rude.

ModifiedMark, sorry if I seemed rude, just got tied up around the holidays, plus bad weather, and it also was accidently being listed on ebay with other items from my store. Will keep you informed when I check the spark.

I can understand that somewhat. Checking spark is fine but that's not the big deal, the condition of the piston, rings and cyl are whats important. As Tim said, if those are bad its only worth its scrap aluminum weight.

I sold this one to a now inactive member here a couple of years ago, I think I got around $50 for it.

Hey there fellow , my name is Ronnie Warren I have a K100 bow saw all original an I know for fact it has been is old barn for 45 yrs an I got it down an gave it a pull it pulled kind of stiff but guess that's normal for something that has been dormant for so long. Anyways I am curious as to what it is worth it's all cast certainly is a beautiful saw just needs cleaning up. So I pulled it a few times and now the crank is trashed it's like it's stripped out or something. It's nothing like my stihil or the echo. But it's a cool looking saw my understanding is that it's from 1957_1959
