I just bought a 1992 16" Brush Bandit but I cannot find out what model it is. It was an old Davey's chipper. It has a Ford inline 6cyl. Can anyone identify this model for me. Let me know if you need pics. Also, where could I find a manual?

You wouldn't believe what I paid for it either. I'm not one to talk about money, but I couldn't pass this chipper up at only $4600. It works fine and the blades are almost brand new!! Now all I need is something to put chips in! And a manual would be nice too.

MB, why should I order new blades already. They're in great shape and they haven't been flipped yet. One side is still brand new? Is there something I should know about these blades?

It's just good to have a spare set, that's all. If you wait until both sides are dull before getting them, then you're gonna have some downtime on your chipper while the only set gets sharpened.

Make sense?

MB, I dig. I've got 3 new sets coming for the Olathe. Since it doesn't have an adjustable bed knife, new knives will probably give me the best chip quality due to their greater protrusion. Sharpening the ones that were on it helped but the knife clearance is huge and it pulls a lot of twigs through uncut/half shaved but long. Spare sharps save time in any case.

Don't get too excited about the manual. The ones that I have seen for bandit chippers are of poor quality. Schematics are no good. Not even a basic wiring diagram:( Any time we worked on ours, we ended up calling the distributor mechanic for help.
Nothing against bandit chippers...they work great. I would just hate to see you give up hard earned $$ for a useless bundle of paper!

MB,
Yeah that makes sense!
Dbeck,
Thanks for the heads up on the manuals. I have a couple of resources I can use for maintenance questions I'm just a stickler for reading instructions.
Thanks Guys!

Redbull, Read the instructions?!?!!!! What kind of man are you?!?;) I've been trying to find a manual for my Olathe 984 also but I can't even find anything on the internet about that model.-Oh well, the design is pretty simple and straightforward.
