I worked on one of those 1980s 2 cylinder Echos the other day.It was a like new saw, and really just needed a fuel filter and its second ever chain. I made a few observations:

They are smooth and have good torque but are nothing outstanding for a 60cc saw.

That front plug is a little hard to change out.

They are overweight for their power.

And, I don't see how that front cylinder get much cooling.

New, they cost more than the next bigger conventional model. They must have stopped them because they didn't sell that well. But they sure are interesting. The average person wouldn't notice they are two cylinder just setting there.

is that an alternate firing twin, or both together? what kinda rpm's will it spin? how is it for vibration compared to a single? been trying to get ahold of one for my stable, but apparently they are scarce, as they always go for more than i'm willing to spend. a unique saw, anyways. i wish they'd build a stock, twin 088, or how bout a 3 banger like the old kawasaki H-1. those were really smooth runners, and would crank some serious rpms. i rode an H-2 750 with triple pipes on it for awhile. it would pretty much outrun anything on the road back then. it woulda made one hell of a hotsaw, i bet............................

they are an opposed, simultaneous-firing twin. I won a JD version in a drawing, had it a week, and traded it in on a Toro lawnmower.

As far as cutting speed, I'd compare it to a 3.5 cu in saw. Lots of torque; I feel like the clutch grabbed at a relatively low rpm. As Tony said, heavy and not a super performer. Kinda interesting, though.

I've seen them go for around $200 and up on Ebay. Whatever that's worth!
