I bought of these for a local firewood guy I help out.
Sent this via pm:
got the saws that day. #4 needed some cleaning and had some surface rusted clutch and brake parts which cleaned up fine. Good compression at 165, but may need rings next year..all good.
#3 was a lot cleaner. Somebody had done some work on this saw, probably base gasket elimination and rings as the comp was 185…more than stock :p
i put dogs and chain catchers on both and cleaned the air filters. All easy stuff. I also modified the mufflers.
both have excellent looking piston/cyl…no signs of problems.
fired right up once gassed.
very happy with purchase. Owner will get these into the forest and working on Tuesday after the storm on Monday.

thanks again.

they are famertech...not sure I like the "captured " bar nuts, but will see. I got a 20" 3/8 bar and good stihl chain, waiting on 3/8 sprocket.

How did you mod the muffler? just enlarge the openeing? I have seen some guys cut fish gills in the other side and flare them out a bit.

I’ve done them a couple differ ways but now just open the thing up to about 3/4 of the exhaust port dimension and add a 1mm screen.

I’ll try to find some pics…
all done with a Dremel and carbide burrs.

I delivered the two I got today. Owner really likes the captured nut covers opposed to the older version saws he has. Hopefully his guys won’t run these over 🙄

I have 4 more of the mufflers to do so will get some good pics of the process.
