How y'all doing iam Alan. I just found a 2100cd husky in my grampas shed when he died. It needs some love. IE new top cover air filter and air filter cover. I plan to run a aftermarket air filter on it. What brand is the best. And the saw runs like a bat out of hell iam running a 36inch Bar and it's never blinks an eye thanks if anyone can help.

We 2100 owners need to start our own forum! It is a good saw. I use one to break down logs that won't fit on my Norwood mill. I find parts on ebay, and they have air filters and other misc. parts. Good luck with it.

Yup those are some good saws.

get yourself a Granberg and start slabin'

I have a special place in me heart for them devils.

I'm sorry you have not gotten an answer to your question. I asked the same thing about a Stihl 051, so far the thread has been completely ignored. I have not been able to find much on the topic in this forum so it is not one of those "beaten to death" type topics like "what oil should I use". It seem that it is necessary to start a Stihl vs Husky fight to get any participation, and you still never get an answer to your question. I got a lot of help with the first question I asked on this forum, but it seems to have gone downhill since then.

Here is what I've found while looking around:

K&N Universal Clamp-on Air Filters for a Variety of Universal Air Filter Applications

I think you need to decide if your carb can have something mounted to the outside diameter or if you can make an adapter. Then you can measure it, look up a filter housing style you like and buy the right mounting size.

The idea behind asking the question is to see how someone else adapted the filter to the carb so that you can save a lot of time. It looks like Sachsmo has done it, but I'm not sure why he would not share how he did it.

Good luck!

Just knowing it can be done is inspiration enough for me:msp_thumbup:. It seems that the people who have that kind of mechanical ability and imagination are more interested in thinking up the next great thing, and leaving the details for the rest of us to figure out. Retrofitting an air filter bigger than the one on my car will be a cool challenge, and anyone who is successful deserves bragging rights! However, Sachsmo, if you wanted to show more photos, I wouldn't be offended! I'm assuming you had to set the carb for a richer mixture to accommodate the extra air?

Sorry I didn't see your post about the 051, I milled wth one for a quite a few years. The air box from a stihl TS760 or TS 510 will bolt right up and they both take a canister style filter and the one from stihl also has a outer foam cover.

I have all the parts to put a TS air box on my 075 but find that the stock filter is just fine. I carrry 2 spares and a can of starter fluid along with a paint brush with the bristles cut in half. When one filter clogs up and can't be cleaned any longer with the brush I pull it off and clean it with the starter fluid. I then set it aside to dry and install one of my spares that I keep in a zip lock baggie.

If you change the filter you may have to re jet the carb.

I need to apologize to the fine folks in this forum, the post that got ignored was in the chainsaw forum.

You would help me considerably if you told me how you set the high speed screw on the 051. I don't know how to tune it since it is carb limited.

OP, did you find what you were looking for in the aftermarket filter area? I had hoped that one of the small K&N filters would work for you.

Most all chainsaw carbs will start and run at 1 turn out (each) from lightly seated.

If it doesn't accelerate smoothly from idle start bumping the low out more.

Your carb probably has a govenor built in, Leave the H at 1 turn out, or;

you can also use an old welch plug or a disk of thin stuff like an aluminum can.
