Here is some more that I wonder about, that’s about the Jonsered 2186 and 2165.
First the 2186/385xp 84,7cc, is this saw so heavy and bad as some says, and is the 390xp 88cc so mush better? And do the cylinder and piston from the 390xp fit on the 385xp/2186?
And one more, what type of cylinder is on the 2165/365? Is it the same type that’s on the 2152/353 and 2159/359?
:greenchainsaw:

Any one who can say the 385 is a bad saw needs to come out with me into the real world, and quit reading spec sheets...I have two of them, they will hold their own with a 395 or MS660..(I have two of each of those as well),and I have had those 385's for nearly three years, and they haven't even thought about giving me any trouble...They are on the heavy side...BUT IT'S A BIG HEAVY DUTY SAW!!!!!!!!!.......I love mine, and will continue buying them...

I love this site ! :blob2:

Yes I love it to:love1:

But the reason I ask about the 2186/385xp is that some are saying that it's a Big Pig and OK it's heavy, but is the 390xp better? there is so small difference in this saw's, so I wonder way the 390xp should be so mush better

And I wonder about the cylinder in the 2165/365, coos if it's the same type that's on 2152/353 and 2159/359, you can do some porting and properly get a good saw out of it?

The 2165/365 do not have the same kind of cylinder as 2171/372xp, but is the cylinder on 2165/365 same type as the 2152/353 and 2159/359, coos this are not xp saw's.

The 2165/365 uses a closed port cylinder very similar to the one on your 2171. The 65's are underated saws in my opinion. I kind of think of it as the 2171's little brother. They will outcut the 357/2156, 361, and 5100 in bigger wood. Especially hardwoods. Yeah, it weighs more than those other saws, (as sawtroll is getting ready to point out;) ), but is therefore better balanced with a 20" bar. And it will occasionally take a 24", which would be overkill on the other saws I mentioned. For around $500, it's a great saw.

I haven't sold a 390 yet, so I have no idea if there is any significant improvement over the 385. To create a new model for just 3 CC's? Doesn't make sense to me, but maybe there are some other changes that I'm not aware of.

OK, a closed port cylinder, exactly similar to the 2171? or more like the cylinders on 2152 and 2159? This ones has a cover on over the transfer port.

This are some Pic that have been shown here before from Mr. and his saw project (2159/359)

Mag;

the 65's do not have the removable port covers like on the 2159. They are just like those in the 2171.

I'm not sold on the new 390...If I need a bigger saw than the 385,I'll just break out a 660 or 395....From the outside, you can't tell the 385 and 390 apart.I haven't checked the price on the 390,but I'm sure I'd rather just go ahead and get a 395.....I couldn't live without my 395's...I think everyone should have one or two laying around.

I believe that the clutch is more heavy duty.........

...and I wonder if they will discontinue the 385, when the 390 has established itself on the market - they seem to be too close to both be in the model program.

The price difference is negliable, at least here.

You can choose two different clutch types for the 390 but i guess they will fit the 385 as well ,,,,

I agree. It doesn't make sense to have both of them in the line, does it? But they are both listed in the 2007 price list. However here in the US, the price difference is $100, at "power price".

The power "increase" is a big jump from 6.3 to 6.4 HP. Wow!

Do you suppose that there is some EPA thing going on here? I haven't heard anything along those lines, just wondering what the reasoning was for coming out with this "new" model.

..
A bit odd, as the number I have seen for the 390xp several places is 6.5 hp.

In kW, the differense is also .2, which also adds up, as all the numbers are rounded off.

Not that it matters much, but........;)
