I want the most I can get out of a 242xp and still have a reliable saw.I have noticed that a lot of people get there saws ported and run them to much on the rich side.I think that you should check squish before going without a base gasket.I think my 026 was to tight with no base gasket so I used a thin one and got .023 squish,I wanted about .018.I will not say I am taking the bucking spike off to.I would be interested in the chainbrake. I have parts to trade for those if you are in need.
Porting. Depends what you are going for.
Really not needed. Pull the gasket. Ignition timing and a bigger carb.
