I HAVE NOTICED ON EBAY THERE ARE SEVERAL SELLERS SELLING PISTONS FOR THE 266 THAT SAY THEY ARE FOR THE 266 AND 268. THE PISTON IN THE PICTURE LOOKS LIKE A FACTORY TYPE 268 PISTON AND LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THE 266 PISTON THAT I HAVE. IM SURE THE PISTON THEY ARE SELLING WOULD WORK IN THE 266 BUT WILL IT SEE AN INCREASE IN POWER OR LOSS IN POWER USING THIS STYLE. ALSO WILL A 670 JONSERED PISTON WORK ON A 266 HUSKY SAW. IT IS THE RIGHT STROKE AND BORE. I BELEIVE IT IS 50MM X 34MM. THE 670 PISTON LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE 266 PISTON I HAVE. THANKS RICK!:help:

266 and 670 have exactly the same piston. The 268 piston fits on 266 and 670 being different only with open window each side of the piston instead of "semi closed" window on 266 and 670.Performance wise, the 268 type is probably superior due to open window. They all share 50mm by 34 mm configuration.

Are you sure that this applies to all the various versions of the 266, 268 and 670?
As I understand it, the stoty of these saw models are quite complicated.

(266 se and xp.
268 se, xp and just plain 268 (open-port).
670, 670 Super, 670 West coast and 670 Champ.
I also believe that there were changes in production for several of these versions, without changes to the model designations.)

I just check for the 670 piston on jonny site and we dont see Wesct Coast models mentionned ,but for the others 670 they all get the same piston #5016 594 03 superseding 5016 594 01 on older models.

I believe the West Coasts were Supers with full wrap handles and external air filters (and maybe more special features).

And who said the US and Canada can't get along! God bless North America. OK, Norway too! and the rest of ya.

Sawtroll, How do you say "Do you like my chainsaw, the bar is quite long isn't it" in Norwegian or preferably Swedish?

The 266, 268, and 272 are great saws. The 268 piston does seem to be the best for performance.

"Liker du motorsaga mi, sverdet er ganske langt, er det ikke" (Norwegian)

I know about how to say it in Swedish also, but you better ask one of the sveral Swedes here to get it completely right.
