266SE Plating chipped below intake

Simple question: Nikasil is flaked below the intake. Seems like it happened and the customer had a new piston put in it and then ran it once or twice. Piston is fine (new OEM). Just take off the flaking nikasil and run it?

I would sand all the transfer away with Emery paper and bevel the edges with a diamond making sure the plating hasn’t separated from the casting. The rings don’t cross that area so there’s nothing to hook it. Just needs to be smooth and nothing sticking up
