Has anyone used any of the 3/8 lo pro chain that baileys advertises. it looks as if it has a more conventional tooth style than the oregon chain. I have a poulan pro 260 that has 3/8 lo pro, but it is skip chain on an 18 inch bar. (factory)the saw is 40cc will it handle the non skip lo pro bailys chain or will it bog it down. I usually dont cut anything over 12 inches in diameter with it.

I use Bailey's Woodsman Pro (carlton chain) on my dad's 021 w/16'' bar and it pulls fine, the 021 is 35cc. Its the only woodsman pro chain that I will buy anymore.

I use the Woodsman pro lo pro chain from Baileys on my small saws and am very happy with its performance.Just dont take the rakers(depth guages) down too much and go after hardwood.

By skip I mean that the teeth are spaced farther apart than normal chain,( but same pitch) used a lot of time on saws with bars that are really long. or big for horsepower size of the saw.

Would you guys recoommend the bailys chain over the oregon non safety chain listed in thier catalog?(91vp). iam trying to get away from the stock safety chain for something that cuts a little better, and stays sharp longer.

Look at Carlton's non- safety 3/8 lo-pro chain. It's cutter is
drastically longer than any one else's new, and gives you more
bang for your buck.

I have not used the lo profile, can you run it on a normal 3/8 set up and does it have a narrower kerf than standard 3/8’s?

The kerf is smaller and no you can't run it on normal 3/8ths set up.

3/8 lo pro and 3/8 Regular

I have seen it posted that you can run on the same sprocket and also not, but never from company literature. The pitch line on a saw chain is not at the centreline of the rivets as on roller chain, but varies slightly depending on the diameter of different sprockets. I don't know how and heck it works. Any ideas here fellows?

OK...you guys have me confused...(like that is difficult)....Every Jonsered Chainsaw mill (600+) is sold with 3/8 low profile ripping chain...(91R Oregon chain)....and it works perfectly with any regular 3/8 chain setup...is the Carlton 3/8 low pro different?...is there a new sprocket out there for this chain? How does it go Fish?....I digress...?

Oregon doesn't list it on their site. Kevin once got me a chain from his/your side of the line, that is not shown in the book.
I called everyone including Oregon chain and they denied knowing anything about it.

I have seen literature that calls the lo pro chain(91vs) a .370 pitch.I have never tried to run it on a larger saw that uses .375 (3/8) pitch chain.

To be honest, it is a non-issue, I feel. The size/height of the drive
links probably make a difference around the sprocket and bar tip
and rail depth, so running one with the other's system[3/8 vs
3'8 lo pro], is not a good idea, but who among us comes up with
this dilemma?
The 3/8 lo-pro is just a cheap alternative to 1/4" pitch chain.
